As we head into summer, it seems like a better-than-ever time to mix up our fitness routine – especially by getting outside and sweating under Atlanta’s summer sun.

Here, then, are some Atlanta outdoor fitness opportunities that just might present you with something new or unusual.

Hip-Hop Fitness

Tuesday evenings through July 26, 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Piedmont Park (Front Lawn B Greenspace)

This dance fitness class includes a warm-up, cardio, fitness, and house and hip-hop dance styles. It is an upbeat, lively, and energetic class that will build community, confidence, and joy. Click here for more information.

Community Fitness Summer Series 2022

Every Wednesday in June from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Heritage Amphitheater, Sandy Springs

POUND on the Beltline

June 27, July 4, and July 18, 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Historic Fourth Ward Park (at the waterfall, across from freedom park)

Pound is a full-body drumming workout that uniquely combines cardio, conditioning, and strength training with yoga and Pilates-inspired movements using lightly weighted exercise drumsticks. The music is straight fire! Pound was designed to transform drumming into an incredibly effective way of working out and is accessible to all fitness levels. Sunday Evening Yoga in the Park

July 10 and August 14, 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Blackburn Park

Enjoy a weekend wind down by moving your body in the great outdoors at and set intentions for the new week. Dr. Krystal Fannin, a local physical therapist and registered yoga teacher, leads the community in a beginner friendly, evening yoga class. Bring a mat to practice on (blankets and towels work well, too), water, layers of clothing depending on temperature outside, and a journal if you would like to reflect. Fierce Hip-Hop Fitness Tour

July 16, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Fayetteville
